Is your estate plan out of date? Take the 12-question check.

Life events and changes in the law can quietly make an old plan ineffective.

Short answerIf you answer “yes” to any question below, it is a good time to have your plan reviewed. The firm reviews existing estate plans free of charge.
  1. Was your trust signed before 2010? It may be time to review its structure.
  2. Has it been more than a few years since you reviewed your plan?
  3. If you have minor children, does your plan name guardians — and are you still happy with them?
  4. Are your children now adults who could serve as trustees or health care agents?
  5. Are there assets (accounts, real estate) not yet transferred into your trust?
  6. Is your financial power of attorney more than 5 years old?
  7. Is your advance health care directive more than 5 years old — or signed before 2004?
  8. Do you want specific personal property (or the care of a pet) handled in a particular way?
  9. Have you married, divorced or been widowed since signing?
  10. Have you had children or grandchildren since signing?
  11. Have any of your children married, divorced or passed away?
  12. Have you bought or sold a home or other property?

Why reviews matter

Since our firm focuses on estate planning, we keep up with planning options and legislative and court developments. An unfunded trust, an outdated power of attorney, or a guardian nomination that no longer fits your family can undo the purpose of your plan.
